I'm pleased to announce the availability of the DVD-R version!  Many people have requested a DVD-R version of the popular Break-in SVCD due to DVD players that are not capable of playing SVCDs.

This version should be 24 hours in length of the repeating color patterns found in the SVCD.  This DVD-R does not have any menus and is a 16:9 authored DVD.

The Break-in DVD-R is available in .iso format (ripped using DVD Decrypter), .nrg Nero Disk Image Format and in the VIDEO_TS folder format.

Plasma Break-in DVD Images
Zip Download (8KB)
Requirements:
Memory Card & TV Capable of looping images from a memory card with no onsceen display.

This is the collection of images with solid colors used in the popular break in DVD. Since many requests were coming in for the images in order to palce them on a memory card to loop using the memory card slot on many TVs I made this zip file available with 20 images covering shades of white, red, green and blue.

All you should have to do is place the images on your memory card (this may vary by tv manufacturer).
Also, make sure that the images automatically loop and that no text or high contrast lines are displayed on the screen.

Plasma Break-in SVCD
Requirements:
CD-R Drive
CD-R Blank Media
Nero Burning Software
DVD Player Capable of SVCD Playback.

Just got that new plasma TV? Did you know that Plasma TV manufacturers suggest a 100-200 hour break in period? The first 100-200 hours is the time that your Plasma TV is most susceptible to burn in (learn more about burn-in  Here at AVS Forums!).

This file is a zipped up Nero Disc Image (nrg file). Unzipped it is pretty large (~700 Mb) but zipped it is very small (2 MB). This disc image should be burned to a regular CD-R. The disc image is a Super Video CD so your DVD player needs to be able to play SVCDs’. It is basically a set of 20 images that are 720p native resolution. The images are full screen colors so that the entire screen is 1 color at a time. The colors go from a white to a dark grey in 5 gradients, white to blue in 5 gradients, white to green in 5 gradients and white to red in five gradients. The images change every 30 seconds and the disc goes for approximately 16 hours (double check that number when you open the image in Nero). The disc has been created like this so that the DVD players loop functionality does not have to be relied on. Furthermore there is no menu for this SVCD so there is no fear of a menu coming up and being stuck on the screen.

I have used this disc to break in my Pioneer PDP-5050HD Plasma. The disc was played through a Pioneer Elite DV-59AVi DVD player that is set to 720p output over HDMI.

** It is strongly recommended that you turn down the contrast and brightness of your Plasma TV to conform to regular break-in levels.

** Please Note: It is extremely important that no black bars are on your screen when running this disc.  If you see any black bars you are using the disc incorrectly!  All pixels should be lit up with the same clolor at all times when the disc is running.  EAProgramming and Evangelos Angelides are not responsible for any damage done to your display if the disc is incorrectly used.
